Oh Mao Baby
Post by Ira...Looking at the photo of Mao down below, it's hard to believe that Mao was actually quite the lady's man in his day. He had a reputation of being a very prolific womanizer. I mean, what's with the hairstyle? You'd think that after successfully leading his people through a major revolution and wielding absolute power he'd be able to come up with something better than that.
I think Stalin had both Mao and Hitler beat in the hair department. Good style, full complement, impressive mustache.

I don´t know about that. Stalin may have had more hair, but his plain Jane style doesn´t win him any votes. Hitler, on the other hand, had a unique look, especially in the mustache department. But Hitler was relatively monogamous I believe. Not sure if Josef was a skirt chaser or not.
Hitler's mustache was not unique - I believe it was sported by Moe of the Three Stooges as well. Would that Hitler had proven as harmless...
On the other hand, being bereft of top hair myself, I give Stalin credit for a full mop on top, and that brush mustache is far more authoritarian and assertive than Hitler's little square.

I think it was Charlie Chaplin who had the same moustache. Moe did not have facial hair as I recall.
I agree Stalin´s mustache was more authoritarian, but Hitler´s was more memorable. Think about it--have you seen anyone since then wearing such a mustache? It´s like the swastika--nobody will wear it because it is so identified with Hitler.
Besides,a mustache does not have to be full to be memorable, what about Salvador Dali?
Mao's looks made very little difference -- actually, probably NO difference -- in his ability to get chicks, usually girls. For many women and girls, power and wealth are maximally alluring. And for many others (mostly girls, but sometimes boys as well) in repressive societies, there is no choice but to submit to the sexual desires of the powerful and the wealthy. I just watched a good movie that highlighted this. The movie was Steve Martin's "Shopgirl." Very good novella and good movie. One prong of the plot (pun intended) turns on the wealth of the older man who courts the pretty girl at a Saks counter. He pretty much buys his way into her heart.

I wonder if it works the other way around. If Hillary becomes president witll there be flocks of boys and men waiting to have an affair with her? I think not.
